Colors have always been an important part of storytelling. Colors help with showcasing where a character is at mentally in a story, or to set the mood for a specific scene, or used as a common theme within the plot. It’s always been something that I’ve been fascinated with, and get mesmerized by, and now even more so since I’ve started diving more into expression in storytelling since joining the Multimedia program.
I found the videos above very interesting to watch! They really expanded my understanding of how artists use colors to dictate a specific feeling, or as a way to try and integrate it into storytelling to keep the audience engaged, whether they are consciously or subconsciously aware of the color palettes used. Colors are an important part when it comes to developing a story visually (through physical means or in the form of text on a book), and I believe that every artist should take an opportunity to build themselves a palette to use when creating a story, even if it’s something very simple.
Personally, I heavily enjoy using colors in the things that I create, and especially ones that go together super well when deciding on colors to use. I think one of the most prominent things that I apply color to would be outfits. I love coordinating colors together in an outfit to make sure that everything goes together; a part of me would love to try and utilize that opportunity more as I continue to navigate my way throughout my college career.
